Do we match?

December 4, 2007

So we’ve all heard by now. Anderson Varejao has been signed by the Charlotte Bobcats to a 3 year deal worth less than 6 million a year. He can opt out after the second year.

He held out for that!?

Obviously things didn’t work out so well on the market for Anderson or his agent Dan Fegan.

So the question is, do we re-sign a disgruntled player (at a price lower than what I assume we even offered him)? Or do we try to work out some type of sign and trade with the Bobcats or another team (Felton and/or Gerald Wallace would look good in a Cavs uniform).

I assume that if the Cavs don’t find a willing trade partner before the 7 day deadline, they will definitely match the offer. Losing Varejao and getting nothing in return with this contract is unacceptable.

Since I assume we won’t be able to pull off a (beneficial) trade before the deadline I’ll be the first to say:

Welcome back Andy!!!
