Matt posts more than me, but I stole the glory by writing the 100th post and now the 200th post on LeCavs.com.
But this time, I’m not just thiefin’…I actually got something to say.
What’s going on with the haters?
First things first, why does everyone already hate Wally? I like him. I think he can be huge for us in the playoffs. And frankly, he’s one of only three proven guys on our team (The other being Lebron and Z).
I know Wally hasn’t been great so far in a Cavs uniform, and that he has taken (and missed) alot of shots. But that’s what he does. He’s a great shooter and scorer. One of the best in the NBA. I was one of the first to start hating on Larry Hughes because we signed him to a huge deal after one above average season. For his career, Larry Hughes still only has that one above average season to show.
Wally is a proven shooter. He has shot a great % from the field for 9 straight years now in the NBA, and averaged over 20 ppg for an entire season. He is a very good free throw shooter, and from what I’ve seen, is not a liability on defense (though he’s not exactly a shut down defender either). I know that Damon Jones has been good of late, but once Wally’s shot starts falling, I would like to see him cut into some of DJ’s minutes as he is just more valuable to the team.
People, including many on this forum, don’t like Sasha. I don’t know why, he’s an athletic 2 guard who plays above average defense and can hit the outside shot, and drive to the hoop. Frankly, I’m happy to have him back, and back in the starting 5.
Z is great. People have hated on him for a long time. Most fans saw how much we missed him when he was gone. Andy is a nice player, but we don’t have anybody on this team that can play the Center position and demand as much attention as big Z.
Of all the players on this new team, only one guy has really disappointed me thus far. His name is Delonte West, I expected Delonte to be more of a slasher, breaking guys down of the dribble, and either scoring at the basket or kicking out to the open shooter. So far, it seems that he has been content with being that shooter (and he has shot well) but I really want him to be more assertive in the offense and look to score about 15 a game and dish out about 6 assists.
Still, this Cavs team is very good and very dangerous, with a now much improved bench. I would also like to thank Deshawn Stevenson, for sealing his team’s fate in the playoffs and ensuring that Lebron stays angry and hungry.
