That was your 2007-08 Cavs supporting cast! Give them a round of applause, and please give yourselves a round of applause if you sat through that as I did.
That team you saw last night, is what Lebron has to work with.
The sad thing is…they didn’t even play that poorly. They just aren’t very good players. I won’t accept any other argument.
The other day Matt and I were debating about Michael Jordan v. Lebron James. While I accept that Michael Jordan was the greatest player ever; Matthew has turned him into the messiah in his head. So I pulled out some numbers and MJ’s best NBA season looked like this: 33 PPG, 6 Rebs., 6 Asst. All NBA Defense (Jordan had seasons where he averaged more points, or more rebounds, but this was the season of his all around best numbers). Compare that to Lebron James current averages of: 30 PPG, 7 Rebs, and 7 Asst. Above average defense and you see he’s definitely in the same league.
My point is, MJ could not lead this current Cavs team to 6 championships. Maybe 1 championship. Lebron led us to the Finals last year. Get us our Scottie Pippen!
Back to last night’s game, Larry Hughes had a supberb game by his standards. As is Matthew’s MO, he praises Damon Jones (who did have a decent game, but missed every key shot at the end of the game), while destroying Boobie (who played as well as DJ, and hit a key 3 at the end). Pretty much everyone else played an average game for them. And we got destroyed (even though the final score doesn’t show it) by one of the worst teams in the NBA.
Also, Drew Gooden…WTF? Aren’t you ashamed? You were the #4 pick of the draft a few years ago. You never get in in the 4th quarter even though you are undoubtedly the 2nd most talented player on this team. I’m always sticking up for you, but for f’s sake…act like you give a crap!
P.S.- Matthew, not to overly call you out in my posting today, but your boy Kobe had 11 turnovers yesterday, this follows a 9 turnover game a few weeks ago by him. The Cavs as a team had 13 turnovers in an ugly game. Just wanted you to know. Also congrats to your loved ones Caron Butler and Brandon Roy for making the All-Star team.
